on the road doing color studies, freelancing.

i personally believe all designers should draw.
(and if we’re getting into it… all non-designers should also draw! ;))

so much of design is based on seeing,
and nothing teaches you to “see” like drawing from life.

here’s what i’ve seen on my trip so far.

livingston, MT

outside of yellowstone. got a bad sunburn staying out trying to draw these mountains. a woman at a coffee chain told me that in the winter they get “howling winds” over 60MPH.

badlands, SD

to get here, google maps sent me on a 20 mile one-lane gravel road—with no reception. can’t help but think there was a better route… clear and good day though.
